Information for Divers

Diving Emergencies:

The Centre is part of the network of comprehensive hyperbaric facilities around Australia which provides 24-hour cover for diving emergencies. This network can be accessed by dialing the DIVERS EMERGENCY SERVICE on 1-800-088200. Alternatively local divers can call the centre on +61-07-3371 6033.

The data from these calls is collated and analysed to provide a valuable teaching and safety resource. Summaries are published periodically.

The Divers Emergency Service is funded by the Divers Alert Network S.E. Asia Pacific, a non-profit diving safety organisation based in Melbourne, Australia.

Tours for interested dive groups are conducted regularly and include dive safety oriented teaching programs and a close look at the hyperbaric chamber. This is a service offered by the centre to assess how a dive organisation copes with a diving accident. The assessment is conducted by the Technical and Medical staff each of whom have at least 20 years experience in various diving industries including Recreational, Military, Commercial and Police diving.

In today's litigious society and with diving incidents attracting indelicate media attention it is important for diving operators to have all reasonable measures in place in case of a diving incident. It is for this reason that the Centre offers a service of Policies and Procedures formulation and implementation using the experience of our faculty to individualise these Policies and Procedures.
