Wesley Hyperbaric Marks 20,000 HBOT Treatments in Over 26 Years of Life-Changing Care

20,000 HBOT treatments
We’ve just hit a huge milestone—20,000 chamber compressions (or dives) at Wesley Hyperbaric! Over the last 26 years, we’ve provided over 90,000 HBOT treatments to help our patients in their healing process.

20,000 HBOT Treatments and Counting

“Reaching 20,000 dives feels monumental. It’s a true testament to our team’s dedication and the trust our patients have placed in us. What we’ve achieved together over the years is something to be proud of—it’s not just about the treatments, it’s about the lives we’ve touched along the way.”

Wesley Hyperbaric, a leading provider of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) located on the campus of The Wesley Hospital, is proud to announce a major milestone—20,000 chamber compressions (also known as ‘dives’) delivered over the past 26 years. Since opening in 1997, we’ve had the privilege of delivering more than 90,000 treatments to Queenslanders.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a specialised treatment that supports patients with a variety of conditions, including chronic wounds, radiation tissue damage, and diabetic foot ulcers. By delivering 100% oxygen at higher atmospheric pressure, HBOT enhances the body’s healing process and accelerates recovery times.

As the only licensed and ACHS-accredited private day hospital in Australia specialising in hyperbaric oxygen therapy, Wesley Hyperbaric remains committed to delivering exceptional care.

Wesley Hyperbaric is also proud to be part of the International Multi-Centre Hyperbaric Data Registry run by Dartmouth University, which collects and analyses global data on hyperbaric treatments and outcomes.

“Our involvement in this registry allows us to contribute to a global knowledge of Hyperbaric and its uses. It’s about sharing knowledge and improving care for people all over the world, not just here at home. Being part of such an important initiative highlights our commitment to excellence and constant improvement.”

Patient Experiences: A Lifeline for Many

For many of our patients, discovering Wesley Hyperbaric has been a turning point. Sarah, one of our long-term patients, reflects:

“I’d never even heard of hyperbaric oxygen therapy until I was referred here. Honestly, I feel so lucky to have found it. I was suffering from post-radiation injury, and the staff took such good care of me.”

David, another patient, shared a similar story:

“My GP didn’t know much about hyperbaric therapy, but I stumbled across Wesley Hyperbaric when looking into wound care options. I ended up in what they affectionately call the ‘tub’ for my wound. The staff here are just incredible, and the sense of community in the clinic really makes my day.”

One of the unique things about hyperbaric treatment is that it’s often done as a group. Patients undergo treatments together, creating a strong sense of camaraderie and support.

“You wouldn’t expect it, but the connections formed in the chamber are often just as therapeutic as the treatment itself. Patients go through the process side by side, and that shared experience creates a real bond. For many, it’s something that brings comfort during what can be a difficult time in their lives.”

Looking Ahead: Expanding Care to New Conditions

The future is exciting for Wesley Hyperbaric as we explore emerging uses for HBOT in treating conditions such as Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and Long COVID.

“We’re seeing some promising results in these areas. For patients suffering from chronic conditions like Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis, HBOT may offer a new pathway to healing. We’re also exploring its role in helping patients recover from traumatic brain injuries and the lingering effects of Long COVID. It’s still early days, but we’re optimistic about what this means for the future of our clinic and, more importantly, for our patients.”

A Legacy of Innovation and Care

Wesley Hyperbaric’s journey started 26 years ago with a vision. Founder, Tony Turner, recalls the early days:

“When we first opened, the goal was simple—to offer something new and innovative to Queenslanders who needed it. Seeing where we are today, treating thousands of patients and making a real difference, is just incredible. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been worth every moment. And the best part is, we’re just getting started.”
